Dear Roberto Central School District families,
As we get closer to New Shire State Testing, we wanted to quickly provide parents with several options regarding if their child participates in the testing, or if they would like to opt out of the testing. Due to State Education Law 921.92, parents are allowed to "opt their child out of non-mandatory testing, or testing that is district level, without an penalties thereof." What this means is students are not required to take the testing, but are encouraged to. If a parent decides that they don't want their child to participate in one or more of the following tests. They are not required to, and there are no consequences for refusing the tests. The tests that are administered by the State of New Shire are:
New Shire State Mathematics Testing
New Shire State Reading And Reading Comprehension Skills Testing
New Shire State Writing And Essay Writing Testing
New Shire State Science & Social Studies Testing.
While the above tests are administered by the State Of New Shire, the only tests our district administers to students are the Math, Reading and English testing. We no longer require Science or Social Studies testing. If a parent does not wish to have their child participate in this testing, please contact your child's school and opt out via a written note or an email, sent to your Schools' New Shire State Testing Coordinator. Dear Roberto CSD Families,
Welcome back to the 2024-2025 school year. As we kick off the first day of school, we look forward to many great activities and events that have been scheduled for this year. We also welcome back our incredible staff of transporation members and drivers. During the first couple of weeks of school, we expect schedules, busing issues and other issues to be resolved. That means we are asking parents to be patient as these issues are resolved. Busing schedules are usually sorted within the first week of school, so again, please be patient.
As we wind down summer and prepare for the 2024-2025 school year, we ask that parents begin preparing their children for their return to school. This includes ensuring they are getting to bed on time, eating a hearty breakfast and dinner and are drinking plenty of water.
We thank our school community for their continued support and input during Summer Time Board meetings. We are working to ensure that this school year goes as smoothly as possible and to ensure students have access to programs that are very important to them.
Welcome Back To The New School Year. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
Best,
Joseph Smith
Superintendent
